This one is out of my area of collecting completely, but I picked up this armband from a flea market this weekend. From others I have seen this differs in that the white ribbed circle runs horizontally and is slightly oval? Also, the circle is stitched with red cotton on the reverse. It is no doubt old and beautifully made compared to some I've seen, but I have no idea as to originality.

So, is it real or fake?

Thanks guys,

Red

Bummer Frown Thanks for the reply...

Usually TR fakes can be easily detected by poor quality, this one tho is very well made. So what are the red flags that make this a fake??? I would love to know for next time round.

It goes to show, don't buy out of your own area of expertese Frown

Thanks, Red

Red..one of the big giveaways is the texture and quality of the wool used for the body of the armband..also, as you have stated, the horizontal positioning of the 'ribs' of the roundel is some thing i don't like to see, though it does happen once in a while on original examples...

Thanks Doug, I guess I'm off to get a refund... Pity, it was a good price, but high for a fake tho.

Thanks, Red

as well, alternating red threads showing on the circle is "misfortunate."
