You are gonna want to talk to Houston Coates here on GDC. He's a really sharp cookie & will be able to give you excellent direction. Steve

I'd have to second that recommendation - Houston Coates is THE authority on forestry daggers and a real gentleman

Thanks guys. Sad to say there are no books on this. You will find a few references to this subject in a number of books but not too much. I recommend you download my FREE guide by clicking on "collector's guide" in the introduction to my forum. IMO if you follow it you will never buy a fake Forestry or Hunting dagger or accoutrement. I do believe that many members of this Forum and others have saved many thousands of Dollars, Pounds, Euros, or whatever by using it. If you find it of any use to you please donate a small sum to aid in the running of GDC. Thanks.

I recommend the following hunting reference book:
Der Reichsjägermeister, Fakten und Legenden um Hermann Göring, by Andreas Gautschi. Published in 2006. 338 pages of photos and German text.
Can be easily found on ebay for $40 -$50.
