Hi Everyone - I have my doubts about this one but I bought it anyway. The Blade shows Good Cross Graining, has a Good Etched Motto and a Good Etched Makers Mark on the Obverse. There is a Ricasso which I am unsure whether this should have been on the later model only and the Diamond doesn't seem to "wiggle" as everyone calls it. The Scabbard is Magnetic with a Rivet and the Hilt Plating is just about 100% with the Hilt being "just about" magnetic although not very strong. The Leather is in just about Mint condition again but doesn't have that "new smell" to it if you know what I mean. My camera is an old 1MB Pixel and long overdue being replaced when I eventually get round to it and I couldn't get any really good pics of the Diamond with it being really blurred but I would certainly appreciate some input from you knowledgeable HJ Collectors out there. Please feel free to ask any questions and I will post whatever pictures I can within the limitations of my camera! Many Thanks All - Dave.

I just took another pic of the Makers Mark which hopefully is a little better. I ran my fingernail over it and it is definitely etched.

Hello Dave,
I have seen an exactly the same HJ knife for sale on best-antiques.com a few mounth ago.A Spitzer in "too good" condition. Selling by Carsten Staegemeir GmBH. I was hesitating to bid on it, but finally I passed on it. I just didn't like the crossgraining on the blade and the overall look of the dagger.
Where have you purchased it? If it is another mint-mint Spitzer from a different source it is very fishy.
BUT, I am not an expert on HJ knifes, so I'd like to hear an expert's opinion.

The "Spitzer" logo is all wrong for an HJ knife. IMO it should be stamped not etched. Besides the leather and several other items I believe this is a re-pop.

Always difficult from pictures and some of them are a bid blur here.
But the fingerguard appears to be too small, hilt too flat and grip plates seem like dark grey, not black. I would like to see close-up pictures both sides of the grip and the diamond.
The buffer look thin and new and the crossgraining looks indeed unusual.
I would not buy based on this pictures.
Best greetings,
Herman
You never have enough HJ-knifes!

As Herman has previously said the grip and hilt look very dubious, very small and out of character
