I recently acquired a large Japanese banner. I wonder if anyone can provide any information about it, and perhaps a translation of the writing. It is about 8'-8" x 2'-3" and appears to be printed on a coarse cotton material. It was supposedly picked up on Guadal Canalthat. Thanks, R.W.

Sushi Bar advertising?

Just kidding - sorry, couldn't resist! Cool
Unfortunately I'm not able to read the kanji (yet), but if this banner is real WW2 period it would make a GREAT display piece!

Are you sure that it isn't upsidedown?

If you want to criticise someone first walk a mile in their shoes. Then, when they come after you, you'll be a mile ahead and they'll be barefoot.

Can't read Japanese but I agree it's upside down. The story will be in the translation.

Teri can't see the pic on the link that I sent her. Will you post it direct to her?

What Bob said is correct. It's a current banner promoting a traffic safety campaign. The photo is upside down and the first three characters were lopped off to obscure what it is. Has nothing to do with WW2, only with the traffic war.
