I have been offered a SR-25 made by Knight's Manufacturing Company in 1994. It is a .308 with a 24" free floating barrel, threaded for a suppressor (from the factory so it may be a military version) and detachable front and rear sights. The serial number is 241xx. According to what I have read, it is the sniper rifle in use today by the Navy Seals and is quite rare and valuable. I think it is the standard match version, but an not certain due to the threading for the suppressor. Any idea of value. I can buy the rifle, scope and 3 mag's for $3K. It has had only 20 rounds through it and looks brand new. Any thoughts on the price and rarity would be appreciated. Mark

I have no pics. They have a website Knight's manufacturing Company, however this model was discontinued and the longest barrel length available now is 20". This one is the earlier 24" barrel. The threaded receiver for the suppressor is what has my curiosity and interest. That, according to the factory is a military or law enforcement rifle. It was originally sold to Georgia Arms, Inc and made in 1994. So, it was not a military or law enforcement sale and appears to be a varient Mark

Why? I spoke to the factory and the rifle is right as rain and a bargain for the price. They are not commonly available anywhere. I bought the gun.

Very good price for a weapon that looks to be in first class condition. About $1500.00 under what it would go for in my area.

Thank you gentlemen. I think this was a great deal and I just finished breaking down the rifle to the extractor and cleaned and oiled it thoroughly. It truly is minty and a great rifle. I look forward to shooting it and giving the report. Mark

Nice buy afterall...And what a condition..I like the 7.62 NATO in general, I use a HK G3A3 when I'm on duty. Well, how are you supposed to cock the gun freely when the scope is in the middle?

Whoo-Haaa! I just noticed the scope doesn't look so tactical, I know it's the original but I think should be more rubber/compact like.

Yeah, it's only a Tasco scope which is coming off and a Zeiss Z-800 is going on. The scope rings are Knight's Manufacturing though. The main value was in the rifle, it was not issued with a scope...the seller just put it on to look good to someone who would not have known the difference. Phatt...you have a good eye for the details! Mark

Guns America is only asking prices though. Checking the online auction sites for recent sales will give you a better idea of actual selling prices.

Timboo..how can one view actual realized prices? Those prices on GunsAmerica are not very far off the mark of actual selling prices in my experience. The Stoner SR-25 is bringing the big bucks...no question about it. Mark

On Gunbroker, go to "smart search". It will allow you to check auctions up to 90 days old. AA has the same feature. Look at the completed sales, not the auctions with too high a starting price or way to high reserves.
I didn't intend to question the value of the Stoner. But I know a lot of the same guns sit on Guns America for a year or more. It's kind of like gunshows. I've had sellers tell me "they go for XYZ at the gunshow". I always correct them with "no, the are priced at XYZ, but normally don't sell unless the price comes way down"
