Just got this DJ "banner"(8"x12" approx).

Double sided in celluloid "case"; embroidered in gold, browns and white/cream outline on green field.

Has metal rings in all four corners.

Anybody know the intended application for these
2 sided rectangular banners? (Seems like a strange attachment "mechanism" if for vehicle use.)

Thanks for any input.

Hi Roger

I have one of these I posted a while back, not quite the condition of yours as my celluoid has split but pretty much the same, mine was to Kreisjgermeister Eickstatt. I'm unsure of the use of these things but thought either table or vehicular use.
Your guy was in Jagdgau Mittelfranken Rank of Rittmeister a.D und Gutsbesitzer Freiherr Dr. Kurt von Seckendorff in 1935/38.

Hope this helps some.

Gary

Thank you for the personnel data. Very helpful.

I checked back and saw your previous thread. If I would have done that before I posted (duh)I would have just added to your thread as it all deserves to come back to the top. Super pictorial reference information there.

Anyway... re: these rectangular things, I can't imagine where they would be hung by the four corners on a vehicle and still needed to be 2 sided. And, as a table banner, I guess I just never saw a whimple in a celluloid case.

But, obviously they went somewhere, and your analysis is as good...or better... than most.

Thanks... and "hi" Bill.

Many vehicle flags were rectangular and were held in a metal frame -which is often missing.

Oops...
that makes sense!

I forgot about seeing those metal frames that attached to a "staff" on complete car pennant sets.

Thanks.
