i have a chance to buy this sword, but before i do , i would like your advice on it, it has no rzm markings on it other the the ss markings on the scabbard where ther sword would go into it, and the handle end does not have the ss runes on it, ive read that only NCO and Officer swords would have that, enlisted ones did not.

the sword know seems correct also.

thank you
Brian

Brian,

Some more close-up photos of the hilt area are needed, the larger and brighter the better. However, the general impression of the Degen looks good so far. The portepee is a nice original example.

I find it strange that a nice SS officers sword is offerd on ebay and there are very few members making comments about this super hot selling sword! Strange..... or is it kept quiet so the members (even the ones who complain about ebay) can bid on it??? Wink BTY Wittmann sold one in NM for 8K! Stupid $$ were is exact words, I agree.

if $8k is stupid money for one of these, what would be smart money for one be? this one is not near mint, look at the plier marks on the step fitting under the pommel cap. still a nice sword and looks good to me!

It is tough as a moderator to comment on ebay items. There is always the chance of fraud. As I've said before photos can lie. Who would the buyer blame if it turned out to be fake? I've taken the chance on ebay before and got some great bargins and believe this degen is real but would have to have a money back guarantee.

Seller ended this listing early because the item is no longer available for sale.

Current bid: US $4,050.00 (Reserve not met)

SEVERAL REQUESTED ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AND PHOTOS WITH NO RESPONSE FROM THE SELLER.DID THESE IN DEPTH AND SPECIFIC QUESTIONS SCARE THE SELLER?

PERHAPS NOTHING WAS LOST!

A bunch of bunk. I emailed the seller three times, no response. This was even before he closed the auction. I emailed him after, asking what had happened and no response. Anyone who would send this clown a nickle would be forewarned.

he did indeed email me saying he changed his mind about selling because he knew felt it wouldnt go to $7500, he the nasked me if i knew how to look up an ss number on a chained dagger he owned. i then emailed him asking 1) is the sword for sale? 2) why was he selling it? 3)what would he take for it as long as there was an inspection period.. AND I HAVE NOT HAD A REPLY !
