Hello All, Check out this Army Officers Tunic I bought on GDC a few months ago. It is my first Tunic and well worth what i paid. The only problem is a few buttons have come off (if some one has some thread see my posting in the WANTED section), Other than that this thing is sweet. I have tried to do a little research on the name on the tag and came up with a sure name of MULLER (Thanks Jeff) if anyone else can shed some light on the name it would be helpfull. I think it reads Klausse Muller but not sure. Thanks Guy's Eric [email protected]

Hi Eric -
This looks to be a converted Waffenrock (seam across the midle with added pockets). Can you post some close-ups of the collar tabs and shoulder boards?

Johnny V. Not to worry I'll share some pics with you, you are 100% correct it was a great deal. Don here's some more pictures. Please correct me if i'm wrong the reverse side of the boards as well as the pinstrip on the front are green. I looked them up in a book my friend has and i think it's for a Army Infantry Panzer Grenader and his rank would be Lt. Colonel. The pocket has two thread loops for a EK1 which i still need to get. Maybe after christmas I'll look for a nice one. Thanks Eric

Thanks for sharing the photos! The tunic is for a LtOberst. It is a very early Administration tunic.
Admin tuncs(especially early ones) are VERY rare. Unfortunately, they are not too popular with most collectors, thus the low price.

Never a problem! I am one of the few who really enjoy Admin and Sonderfuhrer items(for the Luftwaffe). There are a couple of pluses... they are rare and not many others want them(which means the prices are very good). For every Admin tunic, I have seen many Infantry, Calvary, Pioneer, and PzGren tunics.
These personnel are definately under appreciated for what they did.
Most were veterans of previous combat units(WW1 and/or WW2) who were not medically fit for combat duty(because of age, prior combat wounds, and ect). I have seen a LW Admin photo of an officer who was wearing a Pilots badge, WB, and EK1.
Anyway, just my take.
You have a real gem of a tunic there!
Regards Paul

BTW, a WW1 EK1 or perhaps a Rider's or Sports badge would be the most appropriate choices for this tunic, IMHO.

Thanks Again for the advise Paul, I forgot to mention i'll be looking for a WW1 Iron cross, even a sports badge would look nice. I have seen a few on eban but never took the leap so to speek, I do not know the difference between a real one or post war made EK1. I will not get burned on ebay or some guy from poland again (a problem i had when i first collecting Edged weapons) so i will buy from this site or one of the well known dealers like Hogle, Wittman, or Gotlieb when the time is right. You are right these tunics are under rated, and it's good to hear that they are rare. I think some of the collectors are missing out on quality made uniforms. This is my first tunic and i will sure be looking for something like a Luftwaffe or medics tunic to add to my collection of Daggers, badges, etc.. to me it does'nt matter if the tunic is admin. you are right these guys served at some point.
Happy Holidays Eric

Paul, Not sure what type of LW tunic but i'll know it when i see it. I would have bought one last week but with christmas and all. I do have a radio/gunners badge so I might look for a tunic to put that badge on. Here's a picture of the badge, the badge is marked on the reverse B&N common maker.

I agree with Don. This is a waffenrock conversion to a field style tunic. Looks good to me. The ribbon bar is believable also.

To me the name looks like Kanon. Mueller, Kanon. would be short for Kanonier, the lowest Artillery rank. If that is what it says it would seem the tag has been added after the war.

Sorry chris but i read Klauss or very similar name, Definately not Kanon. The tag is original and not in question. Eric

The collar tabs are incorrect for a Admin Official. They should have a green Waffenfarbe in the middle and a grey nebenfarbe to go with the boards for a Military Administration (Occupation) Officials, who used grey Nebenfarbe with a Wehrmacht eagle Here are a set of boards for a Elevated/medium career Official with the White nebenfarbe for a paymaster.

I have a converted waffenrock (Medical) similar to this Admin tunic, the give-away being the seam around the middle and of course the number of buttons. In this case he has taken off the blue piping from the front but left it on the inside edge.

Hello Thanks for that. I am not a uniform collector, just boards and tabs. Could you explain for me a little more about what I highlighted in your quote please?

Hi Laurence...After the war started wear of the Pardae tunic diminished, but because the quality of this garment was usually high many soldiers opted to have it converted for general service wear. I'm attaching photos of a regular parade tunic and a general wear service tunic and you can see what has to be done in the conversion: Add 4 pockets Add French cuffs Change the buttons from white to dull Maybe remove the front piping.
What cannot be changed is the NUMBER of buttons, nor the SEAM that is around the middle of all Parade tunics to make it more of a tight and smart fit.

Hello Tristan Many thanks for that. I see that trying to look sharp has carried on over the years, we used to do the same sort of things to spiff up the uniform, when I was in the Army, especialy when you are an Instructor -though no tailoring was allowed.
