Hello gentlemen! I have had this cap since 1998 and I would like some feed back on it. DAK caps are very hard to come by especially with soutache. This cap is for sure not the usual version encountered nor are the traits of the metal vent holes. The shoulder boards came with the cap and I do feel they are ok.
Is this an original DAK M41 and have any one seen another one by this maker? I have never seen a fake or an original like this one before.
I would like any comments, good or bad on this cap.
Cheers, Felix

Inside markings and inside vent holes The red colour looks a bit pink and over saturated but its from a bad digital camera.

Hello Felix, I have to admit that I am struggling to find any good points with the cap as it does have quite a few problems. As you have mentioned, the grommets aren't right at all compared to known original examples. The stitching around the insignia does remind me of some of the repros coming out of the east. The soutache seems awfully thin compared to other caps which I have seen. The maker is also unknown to me and the ink appears to have run, which really isn't a good sign. I would be very suspicious of this cap and would avoid it if I saw it for sale somewhere as it just doesn't quite look right at all. On a good note I do really like the look of the shoulderboards. Regards
Mark

Sorry Felix, There is nothing original about this cap. I've got better repros made from original motorcycle coats with good insignia. This is not even close. I will soon be able to post some of my treasures here and I will bring all my stuff to SOS. Hope to see ya's all there.
