Hello,
Did I fall asleep and miss something? I don't want to post yet another "prices are crazy" thread but I just saw a $3000 SCHUPO officer's Schirmmutze, (nice but I have better), and a $4000 SCHUPO officers service tunic on two of the most popular dealer's sites.
Excuse me but the caps were selling for $700 and the tunics $800 less than a year ago. What did I miss? Did I miss some disaster claiming the majority of police collectibles, has the US devalued the dollar to 1/4th its value a year ago, what....WHAT???
Are you Ferrari driving "investors" really paying THAT much? If so I would like you to invest in everything I've got. I will provide a detailed inventory to serious inquiries.
I knew the hobby had left me behind when the "other forum" had a thread comparing the owner's "classic" rolex watches and another their high end sports cars. Gee, I don't have either, I guess I can't join the club, not that I ever have been invited "behind the table" at any show where the "big boys" play. Who would have dreamed the "elite" amongst us would be amassing "police stuff" which had NO value not so many years ago.
Amazing, and dismaying to watch. Except for the infrequent "lucky find" I am definitely out of this game. I fold! Take the pot!
Regards, Bill Unland

Bill its just people trying to cash in on the Angolia book, and of cause the Erel logo, I know they were one of the top makers, thats why there seem to be more erels out there than anything else, with so many you would have thought the price to be lower.
The cap is also one dealer buying from another dealer, I did not buy this one when it was only $1700 last week on another site, because I thought it too much then.
It only takes one dealer to push the price and the rest follow, I for one will not be buying anything unless it is reasonably priced.
At one time luftwaffe was the highest prices out there, but now they seem to be one of the lowest, so you know where I am heading off to.

Well, I am with you guys. I don't buy Polizei caps for $1,000. much less 3K. I don't buy overpriced uniforms either. I guess we will wait and see if anyone else is paying that kind of money. Wishfull thinking is what I am thinkin'. Wasn't it P.T. Barnum who said, "A fool and his money are soon parted." Or maybe he said, "There is a sucker born every minute." I don't recall offhand... but "if the shoe fits, wear it" I always say. Foolishness... George

Well, some of the oddities are higher ticket. Things like white tops and never seen pipings. Wish I had bought the officer's white banded olive color mot.Gend.Bereitschaft I saw almost ten years ago for $1700. Haven't seen another since. But the common pieces can't be selling in that ethereal range, can they?
