Nice eagle Bob. I looked through my copie of the Assmann catalog and couldn't find an exact match. This stubby winged eagle was used by several organizations, like Postal, Railway, Forestry and other civilian types. Is it on a manufactures board? Is it maker marked on the back?

Thanks Raymond! It's just taped to cardboard for handling/pricing. I didn't get a good look at the back other than to see the prongs are gone, sorry......Not in Assmann, eh?...Maybe I'll look through some headgear books.

Thanks Paul. I feel it must be one of those, but the owner was curious about the inner wing feathers and how they don't "blend" into the wing like other eagles. These ones stand above the outer part enough to catch a fingernail on.

Kursk check the COLLECTORS GUILD under the DRB
you will see two examples there and I think the cap badge on the forestry hat is the same design

Sorry, I didn't shoot the back. Red Face ........I think the Forestry hat at the Guild has changed since Paul last posted, but the one that's now gone did look like it had the inner wing feathers standing out like the one we're discussing, but I think it was gold coloured.

It is very similar to this one that was identified as a postal eagle.
