I collect signed militaria and other books by authors who I have personally met. Currently I have an even dozen. My most prized on is "Iron Coffins" by Herbert A. Werner (Woerner). I had the pleasure of meeting him through a mutual friend. This was one of his two personal copies he had. At the time the U-boat Commander was living in Pt. Pleasant, NJ and owned a contracting company based there.

I was fascinated with this book, too. I wrote him and asked for a signed photo, which he sent me at Christmas time one year. That was a really nice Christmas gift, and I still treasure the photo...Tom
