Pablo,

An interesting SCHUMA tunic. And, as you point out, always a controversial one. Could we see closeups of the sleeve insignia and the shoulder boards and their method of attachment? Any markings inside?

Frankly, this is what I would expect to see in a SCHUMA tunic. A basic Ordnungspolizei tunic that has SCHUMA insignia. I can see where the late mouse grey Pol Litzen were removed from the collar and the SCHUMA collar tabs sewn on; and then "promoted" as you mention. I would like to see more.

Pablo,

Can we see a shot of the large number markings in the back of the lining?

George:
The numbers are not Cyrilic and hand applied, there is also something covered up on the left part of the front lining. You can see it(a longish dark mark)in the photo I posted before the "Ostvolk" ribbon Image....maybe a name.

The Tunic and hat exhibit the same amount of field wear. They are also somewhat matching in size. The headgear is probably a recicled HJ cap, whereas the Ex-Polizei tunic has been retailored, and at one time had litzen and a chest(?)eagle.
It is an uncommon field and I would love to hear what other Forum Members have to say.

Pablo,

I rather like your tunic as well. The cap is seemingly a DJ or HJ cap but this is certainly possible for a Schuma cap. I don't see any real red flags as these uniforms were in fact re-issued by the Polizei. I would expect to see either a well worn uniform or one that was not issued and sat in a warehouse. Period photographs show these troops in reworked police tunics with a variety of insignia. Some with collar tabs and shoulder boards and some without. Some with sleeve eagles and some without. These are very interesting and controversial uniforms and not for the stitch counter or the faint at heart.

I like it. Smile

George

Hi Pablo,
Like George and Gary, I like your tunic very much. Man, your tunic is very rare as most Schuma members probably went to great lengths to discard their uniforms. To say these guys were "mean" is an understatement. As Tom W. would say "Scary"! I find it just amazing that tunic like this would surface after all of these years. Was it a vet. purchase?

Best,
Marcus
