Today I received a nice, mint WW2 dentist set. It�s labeled with "Zahnzangen", which means extraction forceps. If one would translate it literally it would be "Tooth Forceps".

Upper jaw:
No. 1. Right Molars

That makers mark is known as "Staff of Asclepius". It differs from the Caduceus quite a bit.
VERY interesting kit indeed. You now have a large part of a "Do It Yourself Home Dentists Kit"!

Very nice set-Do we have a Dentist in the group? I went to the factory tour at Aesculap in Tuttlingen- they showed me some special examples of old instruments because I was a Surgeon- I commented that I had 4 of their early SA daggers from the 30s and the worker looked horrified and told me I was wrong, they made no daggers before WW2. Yesterday I�ve made an incredible find on a small flea market. It�s a wooden printing plate, which was used to print a catalogue. And now guess what�s on the printing plate? Yep, it�s a dental extraction forceps from the maker Aesculap. The printing plate is made from a very hard wood and 2 extraction forceps are carved into the wooden surface. It�s unbelievable how fine and exact this carving has been made. I hope you enjoy these pics.

Even the scale 1/1 (full size) is carved into the plate.

Note the very fine lines in the handle and also carved into the wood. A good piece of craftsmanship ... but without any question ... craftsmanship at its best!
