I'm not really sure what these are but both came from the same vet estate source years ago. The scabbards are leather, the scabbard metal is solid nickel silver and the grips are horn. Neither piece is maker marked. If anyone knows the correct name for these knives I'd love to know, any comments welcome and appreciated. MAZZ

Mazz, I'd say these two examples would fall into the category of "Jagdmesser," or hunting knives. I can't tell you the specific purpose of this pair, the variety of these patterns was almost endless as period catalogs will reflect. The condition of your two knives is quite good, the leather portions of the scabbards looks to be top-notch. I like the fact that the grips are of turned horn instead of wood or synthetic. Nice! Bill
