I'm open to all idea's about this knot, my thoughts is that it is forestry related, the colours might represent a state, I'm not sure.

It looks to me more like something that would have been made in the late 20s or 30s... so it could be some obscure freestate knot, Weimar era knot, or else a III Reich state-ministry (like forestry) deal. Just guessing of course, since no one else did. Whatever it is, it's nice.

Somehow I missed your reply Lance, it's what I feel about it but cannot be sure, anybody else have some idea's. I know that there are some knots that are unidentified, I suppose I'm hoping this will not be one of them and somebody will know something.

Cheers

Here's a close up of the ball, the colours can be seen more clearly.

There are a lot of possibilities here based on the colors. The style would almost certainly indicate an NCO bayonet piece. It could be for a Prison NCO. I doubt it is Hunting or Forestry--but we are only guessing here.

My first thought also has been on a prison NCO but what let me hesitate is the 2green/2gold strands on the acorn. All color combined 3R knots I am aware for the moment have 1/2 strands. So I tend to think more of imperial or weimar period.
Just my thoughts.
