Bill I guess you will like this one. Here is what I believe to be a very early type eagle.

I kind of like this type with its very large ribbon, the wings look kind of swept back as if the bird was comming in for a landing, pot bellied with a long hook beak, another striking feature is the feet have no wreath to cling on to.

I have a couple of this type of eagle and George Wheeler has one on a jacket

Dear Gary,

Yes indeed an odd bird to say the least. Black swastika on top of everything! I have not run into this one yet. Looks like a hummingbird I'm afraid.

Bill Unland

Gary..... What an amazing type of Variant Fire Eagle! The lack of closure of the upper aspect of the 'Swastica Wreath' is quite dramatic!

Black Backing & Black Swastica + Red Eagle = ? (Perhaps this is for the Fire Department which was assigned to the Panzers in 1940?) But, I doubt it.. Smile Txs for Sharing it. Dave/dblmed

Gary,

Collector's Guild has this one, I always thought it was bad. Notice the difference in lower leaves. Looks like they skipped a row of embroidery. It is obviously the same pattern, but this one is really sloppy!

Bill I also got that one from the guild, you are right, they missed some of the embroidery, which tells us all that this was hand done. I like them both.
