What are the opinions of the forum on this cap and what is a fair price for this cap? The guy wants a walloping $650 for it which I think is way to much.
Thanks

Hard to tell from these pics..but if it was real..650 for a true DAK with panzer soutache would be a steal, later war issue (after the dak surrendered) are the more commonly encountered..without soutache..and will bring 1000 plus depending on condition. Some very convincing caps were made by a DAK collector in the mid 90's from a bolt of original cloth. The problems were the interior lining, the grommets..and of course insignia were bad..they were the earlier type without the oilcloth sweatband. HOwever..I did see some ordered with REAL insignia and without markings, and no soutache..however..still the two sticking points..grommets were entirely wrong on the interior and red lining wron also.

Scott,
Thanks for the reply. This cap looks to be almost new or at least vary little wear. I did not know that DAK's can be pricy.

I really don't like what I can see in these pics alone. The material looks like a smooth cotton which is definitely wrong for an original.
Some better pics would be very worthwhile but I have strong doubts about this one and believe that better pics would only confirm my doubts.
