Here's some variations of DJ Pennants I have found in the last couple years. I would be interested in seeing any other DJ pennants out there.

Thought I would tag this one on as well, while not a DJ pennant this is the first Deutsche Schtzen Verband pennant I have come across, I very much would like to see any others especially any variations on this style. Shame about the mothing which is worse on the reverse but I couldn't resist not having seen another. This one still has the aluminium frame inside.

Gary,

It's great to see these variations on a theme,
they should be a big help for someone that's contemplating buying one of these.

Houston - didn't you have one or two imperial
examples in your collection that we could take a look at, or am I thinking of a larger unit that you might have shown us?

Ciao!

Bill

I only have one and it is like Lou's. As we can see there are several types--I also have seen some fake ones-not very good and with some odd colors. Somewhere out there --I bet there are some gold ones. I don't remember seeing any Imperial or Weimar ones.

Nice pennant Lou, I see yours is similar to the first one I posted but yours has white bordering around the emblem. I'm going to keep looking and find as many variations as I can, I quite enjoy finding these.
Gold ones, I bet they are something special, Houston have you seen any of the Shooting pennants before, I was quite surprised to find this one and do you know the reason some pennants have a aluminium frame inside and others are just cloth.

Gary--I have never seen the shooting one. The internal frame is for vehicle fender mounting. The internal frame is to keep the pennant in its correct shape. The original complete rig had a pole with a threaded end to bolt to the fender---A large aluminum external frame was attached to the pole with hinges so it could move a bit-- and the pennant had protective clear celluloid pannels to protect it in the large frame. These are seldom found all complete--the pole was left on the car--and the celluloid turns a dark yellowish color and cracks over time. Your example with the internal frame is missing the pole and the external frame with the celluloid pannels, Those without any part of the fender rig are--I suspect-- remembrance items-hung on the wall-or on a desk mounted pole.

Great pennants Gary, I love the first one. I recently saw one in a shop in Jersey, unfortunately not for sale.

Thanks for showing them.

Cheers
Don

This is how the flag is shown on a hunting lodge in Germany. If you care to check my web page, on the photo album page is a long flag that is about the same as in the German Hunting Lodge Photo.

The above is a picture of the top of one page of a distributor hunting catalouge, Eduard Kettner from Koln, these were one of the main distributors of hunting items.

Excellent item Gary, does it show the badges as well? If so perhaps you could show these in the appropriate thread as well?

Cheers

Now I'd like to be the first to comment on such a wonderful and extremely rare display, Congratulations Ed on a two wonderful hirschfngers, the pennant is to die for, I'm insanely jealous of an item I have never seen before, my eyes popped out of my head when I saw that pennant. The symetry on this display is excellent and in my opinion adds to what are already super daggers and pennant.

Here's another new one, as is obvious it has been de-nazified, I'm sure this must have happened a lot and then the pennant used for a period after.

This is the first personalised pennant I have seen to date, whilst it's not named the Kreisjgermeister Eichstatt was Fritz Reiner, in 1935 a Revierfrster by the time the war started in 1939 he was Forstverwalter. Measures 30cm by 20cm still with it's plastic covering which has gone a dirty amber colour, no mothing at all and double sided.
