I picked this primitive up awhile back. Since, I have seen a repro advertised in the Atlanta Cutlery catalog , as a "French trade knife". Mine is stamped "HB" (in a box) on the cross guard and on the pommel. I believe it is Damascus? Any clues? Just wondering if this was carried by a union soldier during the civil war? If there is any interest, I'll post scans when possible. Thanks! Pauli
