An inscription on the scabbard cover is original owner's name and his address.
"2-2 Gifu city" "Miura(family name) Otokichi "

Mr. Jerry, Let's see the rest of the sword. If the owner cared enough about the sword to put his name and address on it before surrendering, it may not be quite as "run of the mill" as you think.
