Hi does anyone know the value of a Police Tschako horsehair parade plume? I have been collecting since 1982 and do not recall ever seeing one available for either sale either by itself or on a Tschako. I have one that I am willing to part with. Thanks and cheers, Ryan

Thanks for the private emails. So far I have been told $300.00 to $500.00 and higher. Does this seem to be a fair price range? I have some interested parties but do not want to be unreasonable and also do not want to give it away. Thanks for any help on the matter. cheers, Ryan S

What color is it? Has it been shortened/cut? There are white, black, and reds ones out there and price will vary on color and condition.

To me, $300 - $500 sounds like a lot but it also depends on how badly it is needed. The last white example I seen for sale on a dealer site several years ago was $295.

Hi Dave it is a black one. I think that $200.00 sounds like a fair price as they do not turn up everyday. Thanks and cheers, Ryan

Remember what they are made of. Black is horsehair. White is buffalo hair and you can tell the difference as it is not as coarse as the black horse hair. The red plumes came in both types, depending on the rank of the musician's. The senior band leaders had red buffalo hair and ordinary musicians had red horse hair.
