Looks like imperial Reichsbahn to me, but I'm not sure exactly? The crown seems to be German
but the wheel-design that I'm familiar with looks different. On most older Reichsbahn-related items that I've seen the wheel is shown from the other side, though, the TR design is a bit more similar to yours, sans the crown.

The other insignia of the steam locomotive is a total mystery? Maybe someone who collects pre WWI uniforms will check it out and let us know?

Bill Thanks for the comparison photo! These came with out benefit of provenance, so I appreciate your comments and any. There were a few Royal Canadian Corps items with this piece if that helps any? I'll get a better scan next time.

From running Marklin trains and researching their history, I would like to add that during the Imperial era (ending 1919 or 1920 for the German rail system)there were state railways systems in Germany so there will probably be variances in badges, etc.

The major ones:

The Royal Bavarian State Railways (Königlich Bayerische Staatseisenbahn or K.Bay.Sts.B.)

The Royal Saxon State Railways (Königlich Sächsische Staatseisenbahnen or .Sächs.Sts.E.B.)

Royal Württemberg State Railways (Königlich Württembergische Staatseisenbahn or K.W.St.E.)

The Grand Duchy of Baden State Railways (Großherzoglich Badische Staatseisenbahn or G.Bad.St.E.

The Grand Duchy of Mecklenburg Friedrich-Franz Railway (Großherzoglich Mecklenburgische Friedrich-Franz-Eisenbahn or M.F.F.E.)

Grand Duchy of Oldenburg State Railways (Großherzoglich Oldenburgische Staatseisenbahn or G.O.E.

The Prussian state railways (Königlich Preußische und Großherzoglich Hessische Staatseisenbahn or K.P.u.G.H.St.E.)

By WWI, they were working closely together. In 1920, what had not been stolen by the Allies were consolidated into the Deutsche Reichsbahn and in 1924 into the Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft.

Excellent and important information for those interested in the imperial railway system, thanks for adding this to Mann's thread.

I'd imagine that searching and collecting just in these areas alone would keep someone busy for a long, long time. Nice.
