This degen is junk.
On another note, Pete_88 suggested that only Police Officer's degens had aluminum grip wire but I disagree. SS Officer's degens that have the aluminum rune button (by Assmann) can also have aluminum grip wire.

For some additional info, I have a Herman Rath PO sword with copper grip wire and have seen one other. Just when you think you have seen it all!

Update. Well, after numerous calls and emails, the seller still hasnt returned my calls or emails. This despite his pledge and assurances that he would take it back if I was unhappy for any reason. With the deal I also got a Luft Dagger which is real, and minty.

So, Im going to try and sell this Franken-degen but to make sure I dont misrepresent it, is it a (messed with) Police Officer or NCO degen?

If one looks around the runes button I believe you can see where they filled the gap from removal of the police eagle with wood putty.

Thanks to all for input however since its not 100 percent original I dont want to keep it. The seller has turned out to be a scumbag and wont honor his original promise so Im putting it up for sale. Maybe someone can use parts of it to finish out a police officers degen. In any event, I'd like some input from the forum on what kind of price to put on this original police degen with fake SS runes

Has the tang been messed with? It looks as though it has been ground recently. I'm interested in it for parts. But I'm not sure the value of the unmessed with parts is going to be that much.
