I was wondering if anyone can help me with this.
I recently recovered a Police wallsign made from a hardboard/Cardboard type material. The sign is painted on it in different layers.
It was recovered from an old barn or something the like and thus has suffered. Most obvious is that the black paint has lost its depth.
When I am cleaning it gently I notice that when a piece is "wet" it regains its depth. as soon as it has dried again the depth is lost again.
I was wondering if there is a way to treat the entire wallsign so it is preserved and completely regains its depth of color.
I do not want to use laquer or any paint-like substance.
Could I use something natural like bees-wax or an oil or something?
thanks!

Try giving it a coat of RENWAX, most collectors on this site use it, it is harmless, helps preserve and from what I hear can even be used on paper. It should also bring everything back to life .

Here is a bit more infromation from the official site Renaissance wax, I am not sure of your location but EBAY is always a good source if you are not in the UK.
