I have a tankers helmet that appears to be WWII or prior.
Made by Wilson Sporting Goods, it appears to be an early football helmet modified for communications et al.
Any information, id time period, anything would be helpful.
Thank you

Certainly looks WWII. These were based on the old football helmet design, and I am sure were quite practical inside a tank. Gen. Patton had a hand in the design I think.
These used to be a fairly rare US helmet to find, I think I paid $350 for the first one I bought.
But then there was a large cache of them that turned up in Belgium a few years ago (well probably 10+ now) All were unissued, but they were in varying degrees of 'squashedness' from 50+ years in storage. The influx caused the prices to drop. But as they have been getting drawn into collections prices again have been ticking up. Most are now in the $200-300 range. Smaller sized and flattened ones can be had cheaper.
Still a Great display piece! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Mr. Jerry.
I notice the ones on Ebay are by Spalding.
Interesting piece of history when you hold one of these and realize they were actually made for combat.

Wilson, Spalding, & Rydell I believe all made them. There may have been more as well.
