Roland, how can you tell so easily? I would like to know some of the telltale things to look for.

Regards,

Mark

A few tips on steins,Poor detail to horse and rider, burrs or seams on horses legs, never naked women in litopane(I know this does not have one) but when they do.Lastly if you have one in hand you will be able to feel the hand painting, one cannot feel decals.Lets not forget MADE IN GERMANY,Detail,Detail, Detail!

let me add a couple more things...that bump in the handle...almost always a dead givaway...also look at the vertical walls of the stein...if you extended them they would eventually meet...in other words the body is conical (slightly)...the real steins are always vertical and parallel...they would always be parallel and therefore never meet...and one more thing...the cursive should always make you suspicious...so with Zorros's tips and mine I hope that helps...Roland.
