I was told it is made out of some sort of light metal, cloth or wool back, with 2 hooks. I only have the one photo. I was told the eagle was a first pattern NSKK design.

I've never seen the gorget before, but the eagle is the same as an early NSKK crash helmet eagle. Here is a photo: http://www.axishistory.com/index.php?id=5394. There was also an even earlier version with a static swastika.

They were big birds, and the gorget may be a period custom piece.

Here is mine.

I have two more photos. The material it is made of is copper with what looks like silver paint covering it. The upper corners are painted black on the circular details. It is 5 5/8 inch wide by 5 5/8 inch tall. The back has a green color felt or wool glued to it. I see no markings. The two hooks are thin brass color metal. Any ideas what it is?

My first impressions are that it is a put together piece using a first pattern NSKK crash helmet eagle. The reverse fabric does not look kosher. Regardless of this it does not appear to be a documented or official design. Possibility exists that it could be an early adaptive design but I doubt it. It would be interesting to see it in hand. cheers, Ryan

I think it is a fantasy piece. It lacks that German quality ie the ends of the tabs on the back.

The better picture shows problems. The black studs appear to be ordinary uniform buttons and the eagle looks like it was cast from an original. Maybe put together as a modern shop project? Wink
