Scott, you may be right but I can tell you that Franken is also a region in Alsace, France.
There were also many Nazi troops stationed in Alsace during the war.
Perhaps, someone with an expertise on the NSKK organization could tell us where it is.

The detective work is what makes the hobby in my opinion. ( The cool stuff helps a bit as well )
I visit Franconia every few years, as I have family there. It is a large region where many area's have Franken as part of the name. ( Frankenwald, Oberfranken, etc.. )Frankenwald ( or the Franconian Forest ) is where my relatives are. Kind of like the Black Forest, but in the East - near the Czech border.

I see that your Sturzhelm was manufactured befor november 1, 1937 after the MB Franken was renamed Motorgruppe.
For the nskk organization, Franken has nothing to do with Alsace. The great town of Franken was N�rnberg.

I hadn't noticed that the helmet was manufactured prior to 1937...............2 years before the war even started.
I guess it is logical to think that the marking didn't belonged to any place in "Frankreich".

Thanks for the info Guymauve. This is quite exciting I must say. I love my helmet even more now. These crash helmets are fun. They look great and are well marked with research possibility.

Pat, I've checked Google Maps and N�rnberg is onlz 333 km from Strasbourg, Alsace, so you were close An helmet from France would have been fun though. I hear lots of political TR items can be found in Alsace.

the Verodnungsblatt der Korpsf�hrung 1/6/39 said that the 2nd model eagle (with nskk scroll)was available for the Reichsparteitag 1939 (N�rnberg )
The insignia will be deliver by the RZM after july 7, at the price 0,75 RM.
Maybe yours was "updated" for the RPT?

I just saw your latest post. Thank you for the information. I was wondering when the 2nd model was introduced. I have a book at home were it says it was done in 1938, but your information is much more precise. I didn't know the 2nd model eagle was available separately and that you could upgrade your helmet.

Just a personal observation: I see more 1st model NSKK crash helmets for sale than 2nd models. Have you noticed the same thing? Any idea why?

Hi Stephane
the cost of a Sturtzhelm was very expensive, early models buyed by the owners dont have any insignia or the SA cap eagle.
Later the helmet was buyed by units (Sturm, Staffel, Motorstandarte...) at the Reichskassenverwaltung NSKK, as well insignias.
The 1939 eagle came too late, they was other things to buy for the german war machine.
