Greetings, I have an M1916 helmet which is black with decals. If held in the light certain ways it almost appears as if you can make out a camoflage pattern underneath. It did not come with a liner. So a few years ago I purchased a nice repro liner and chin strap for an M1916 from Prairie Flower Leather Company. Should I have purchased the M1918 liner instead for this transitional application? Regards, Eric

I think it's a matter of choice, as much as anything. Transitional helmets come with a wide array of liners, including civil, etc.

Eric,
Your helmet sounds interesting. Are you able to post some pictures of it?
Regarding the liner...I would suggest that an original three-pad M18 style liner would have been the best option.
Cheers,
Darryl

Thanks for the kind responses. I will try to post some photos of the helmet this weekend. Regards, Eric
