I have posted this on other forums and thought I would post here just in case you did not see it before.
It is a very rare SA hanger. I have also included pictures of it with a dagger, so that you can see what it looks like on a dagger.
Looking for EKI spanges, first model intermediate and second model L/12.

Nice piece, I think I've seen one of these in one of Johnson's later volumes. Are there any stamps on the leather?

Thanks for posting this. I have seen a few of these over the years. Usually stamped D.R.G.M. in a couple of places they are designed to allow the dagger to be carried in a vertical manner or in the normal angled way. IMO they are unofficial private purchase items and are quite scarce.

Small correction here. Actually, that design is NOT the one that allows the wearer to switch from vertical to normal suspension. That strap that circles the upper scabbard fitting is slit and fitted over the carrying ring.
Houston is right it being quite scarce, and the SS version is quite scarce too. Billy is right about having seen one in TJ's book.
Here is mine.

You can see that getting that strap off and switched is not easy.

Here is what I think Houston had in mind when he mentioned the rare hanger that converts. It looks about the same, but the strap has a snap and goes around the dagger when worn as a vertical rig.

Rear. Slight difference in rivets and the one on the right has a fading white finish. On the right one DRGM is stamped in blue ink but is hard to see.
Both clips are stamped DRGM

Note that below the clips, there are also rings so the dagger could be hung from a clip as well as a D ring.

Here is what they look like deployed so the dagger hangs at an angle. The strap is taken off the dagger grip; the fitting is rotated about 45 degrees; then the strap is snapped through the carrying ring. Clever !

And, Billy is more right than I realized. That dagger is on pg 141 of Tom Johnson's Volume VIII and it the same dagger as pictured above. It belonged to Jay Gillespie at the time and I got it a few years ago through Gailen David One of my Jacobs daggers is on the top of page 144. I had to work a bit to get that from Tom. Dave

I agree-those are a bit different- another small correction though- -on the two position one the leather snap strap is supposed to go through the thin ring below the snap as well as the dagger ring-when in the "angle" carry position- giving added support and holding the strap in the correct position. The thin ring is IMO-not for another clip. Dave-in your photo you don't have them on right-the snap strap needs to go through the thin ring too-not just the scabbard ring. IMO

These are cool hangers. I've only found 3 to buy in 25 years. This one came with what *may* be the original belt loop. It's got a flat spot the same width as the clip. Just speculation of course!

That is interesting. Most people might question a hanger with a horizontal part in the middle of the ring.
Is the diameter of the ring smaller than on a normal belt loop ? The reason I ask is that the clip on these is not very deep and would work better on a thinner ring.

Yes, it appears to be a smaller gauge metal. The loop does fit a Sam Brown SA style belt though. I thought it just looked right when I got this together as a group. I didn't really make the thinner ring connection until you mentioned it. Thanks!
