I'd like to know more about this old timer, looking at his hirschfänger he must have been a senior forester of some kind, anybody know what the medals are on his chest, anything about the badge on his hat, just about anything you can tell me about him, I know his surname is "Valeutui".

Gary, I will give a go at some of the medals. Ist. left facing. War Aid merit Cross. Prussian. 2nd. ? 3rd. Long Service award, 9 or 12 year. Prussian. 4th. Could be 1870-1871 Franco Prussian War commemorative medal. There are combatant and non combatant medals. Or it could be a colonial award, I can not make out the ribbon. 5th. From the placement and size I believe it is the Kaiser Wilhelm Centennial medal 1897. I'll do some checking. Hope some one more knowledgable comes to the rescue. --dj--Joe

Gary, so far no luck. Would it be possible to zero in on the medal bar? I can not make out if #2 is enamled or not or if there is a web at the top arm between the points. Of course the center of the cross would answer all. Regards, --dj--Joe

Gary, my best guess at this time for the 2nd. award is the Waldeck MVK. Military Merit Cross, it was awarded in two clases, gold and silver. I will atempt to locate an image to post.
