Happy to be of assistance Gaspare. I have a post war '46 from a friend of mine. He still has a couple laying around he would probably get rid of.

All the century guns are marked "CAI GEORGIA VT" along with serial #, country of manufacturer, and caliber.

Heres the 2 I own. The short one with a folding bayonet is an m44. The long one is an m91. Check out the reach it has with that bayonet.

That is quit the sticker. I've disassembled the rifle and their are no import marks anywhere on the action, barrel, or stock.

its either a bring back rifle, or a pre 1968 import.

My local gun store (Guns & Leather in Greenbriar, TN) got about 12 in (3 were the sniper variants, the others were straight bolt rifles) and sold them thinking that there would be hundreds to follow. I saw the scope and the downturned bolt, knew what I was looking at and bought mine instantly. That was all they got and no more are coming so it seems that if you are a collector of WWII items of all kinds sooner or later you hit a home run.

The store has been overwhelmed with orders and cannot get anymore. I don't know how these few got out for sale.

I got mine about three months ago and they even gave me the green wooden Russian military shipping crate they all came packed in.

Kingtiger,

I believe the rifle you have is one of the "repro" snipers Century Arms and others are currently bringing into the country. From the limited photos I can tell the mount is postwar. They're still being sold by a number of sources. There's also at least one company currently selling refurbished original snipers as well.

When the repos. first hit the market, Interordnance was selling them as originals. I ordered four of them not knowing the difference. When they arrived I compared them to a couple original 91/30 snipers I own and sent them back immediately for a refund.

Well I'm now in the process of getting a 'Long rifle' 1917 dated.. I
I'll post photos if it all goes successful..

Here's a couple of interesting links on fake snipers:

Thanks timboo, that was interesting. It appears that I have a repro. As a reasonable close design to an original and for $125.00 I am still pleased. This one is a "wallhanger" and probably will never be fired.

The scope does not match the SN on the receiver and bolt and I think the biggest giveaway is the mount.

G..thanks for the links...I learned a lot.
