Hi guys, I'm interested on your comments on this piece which is currently showing on one of our favourite sites The guy is in Poland with no feedback and wants the winning bidder to pay with Western Union, which is never the safest way to pay. From these "distance photos", the dagger can look alright but check out the motto, it doesn't look right to me: http://cgi.ebay.com/GERMANY-WORLD-WAR-TWO-DAGGER_W0QQit...QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

You could always try ALT / F4 . Although for $1 it is almost worth the risk that something on it might be original!.

It's a shame that Alt/F4 doesn't remove the entire ad from ebay. It would save someone from getting ripped off.
"You can pick it up here" Thats a laugh too

He probably doesn't have anymore photos and chances are, the ones that he does have, don't belong to him.

All the proportions and shapes on the dagger are slightly off. Nothing looks quite the way it should. I would avoid this auction.
I think I also say an SA dagger with a similar look somewhere.

I received the pictures of the dagger that I requested. In my opinion it is a fake SS, of which the chrome is sanded down and the etching is filled with black shoe "polish"....that ironic..lol Definately a nono. The pictures are fairly large and when I make them smaller you get the same pictures as found above. If you are interested and able to post the full size pictures please e-mail me at [email protected]PJ
Kind regards,
Peter Jan

With the exception of the crossguards and tang nut which might be real, I see nothing but bad pieces.

This is a great example for "reproduction recognition" and a poor repro at that!

OOOOPS
Just noticed the "S" on the crossguard. Probably real, and from a dead SA dagger.
Serious SS collectors should download these pictures as I suspect that this one will pop up again.

well the hammer dropped and some moron got screwed for $305. If he receives the dagger at all. You can clearly see how much black shoe polish went into "restoring" this his item.
I'am still astonished about the number of people whom are willing to pay large amounts without doing ANY research on the subject.

Under a new name ... a new attempt : It is the same guy selling the same dagger for a third time!! Two new pictures but the same backdrop . May 11th 05 it sold for $765.- US Sept 7th 05 it sold for $305.- US Dec 7th 05 posted and listing pulled Dec 8th ! Why , maybe the first two buyers were haunding him for their money back ??? The first picture he posted in May is the best . Douglas

Yikes! I hope that is a distortion in the picture and not in the blade! The inscription and maker mark are horrible. Bad all the way.
