Hello,
I have never seen this pattern of eagle before, and it sits rather high and off center in the oval. That said, the embroidery and quality of execution look good to me. The green tape around the oval is a bit off putting, but not unique, so my initial conclusion would be that this is probably a good ,late war, summer weight Gendarmerie eagle.

Hello, Found the exact same eagle on wool here: http://www.militaryautographs.com/item.asp?itemnum=281This one is low on the oval and also new. I am afraid I am beginning to doubt this one. Looks like a new repro might be hitting the market. Two of these strange looking birds popping up all of a sudden makes me a bit nervous. His other police tunic on the site has a repro eagle, but a different pattern. Regards, Bill Unland

By Bernd : This Police Officer's bullion sleeve eagle could have been my BEST eagle ever---but little creatures got to it first ! This eagle is in blue-green VELVET with a secondary black wool backing. It measures 3-inches from wing tip to wing tip , and 2 3/4 -inches from the bottom X to the top of the reeve.
