Thought I'd share this old beauty with the forum, I've had it since I was a kid. I'vr had a strong interest in all things military since childhood, and my grandfather, aware of this,gave this to me when I was about 10. He served in WW2 in the USN, this I am sure was not his personal weapon, I imagine things like this were pretty easy to come by after the war.

As you can see, it is a bonafide veteran that very well might have drawn blood. Leather sheath has aged fantastically, and the grip is disintegrating into its component ring parts.
The blade itself, marked KABAR and USMC, is dull and rusted, as you would expect. Does not appear to have ever been sharpened.
Perhaps most intriguing of all is the writing on the sheath.
I am presuming the original owners name, Gary Fruik, written in blue/black ink on the front.
On the back are the places he, and this weapon, have been.

* Pearl Harbor
* Guadal Canal
* Mog Mog

A few years back I made a half hearted attempt to reunite Gary Fruik or his surviving relatives weapon, came to no avail.
Might end up donating it to a USMC museum or something some day.
