Hi guys I have acquired a rather complete AAF group named and would like to obtain information if possible. Does anyone know if there is an archives Branch in the US that I can write and request this information? Thanks and cheers, Ryan S

Can you be more specific as to what, where, and when this group serverd? Chances are they may be someone out there who has all ready done the research.

US Govt sources will not yield much unless you are direct family. Since you are a foreigner Big GrinBig Grin there is even less chance. Even a Freedom of Information request might take a long time.

There are numerous associations, so if you can come up with X squadron, X Group, X Airforce, we can probably point you in the right direction.

Nice meeting you at SOS.

I had some luck with a very nice lady at the Air Force Museum (forgot where it is, maybe Maxwell AFB down south), they have a pile of records and for a few dollars I was able to get several rolls of microfilm to allow me to do research on my own.

Hi guys thanks for all of your suggestions. The chap was a Sgt with the 120th bomber group flying B-29s against Japan in the south Pacific. His name was Franklin W Johnson and stenciled on his flight bag is TAT 33683235 appparently awarded the DFM and served in mid to late 1945 as a bomber. Thanks and cheers, Ryan
