I received this tab for evaluation today. I scanned it with a Luftwaffe General Staff Officer Board for comparision. As you can see, the color matches almost perfectly.
The material on the face of the tab and the board seem to be of the same type as well.
The tab smells and feels right.
The only thing that I am uncertain about is the piping. The piping is not what I am used to seeing on LW tabs, but if that is the only issue, I can live with that.
What I am looking for are any comments or observations.

There are a lot of fellow luftwaffe collectors that I deeply respect who doubt the existance of the Veterinary service within the Luftwaffe.
This excerpt is from "Uniforms and Traditions of the Luftwaffe", vol 1 by Angolia
Sure he could be wrong but this definately supports the existance of these tabs and insignia!

Interesting color. Just seems unusual to me for a simple enlisted tab to have that gold 'officer type ' piping and just a single enlisted gull.

Hi,
The piping seems to be tarnished silver versus gold. It is a strange one. Perhaps some sort of FD tab?

I worry about this one also Paul I have never seen a Heer low Veterinary rank. Usually they are at least an NCO as it would require some training.

Hello,
Perhaps you are right. The longer I have it, the long I feel the same way. I have been talking with some collectors.
We all think that it is period. A theory is that it could be some sort of aviation factory fire police. This is just a theory though.
