I hate to even ask, as I myself even get tired of seeing posts asking for opinions on SS decals, but curiosity says I must, so here goes--- Is this one good? I've compared it to other pics of Q rune decals, and to me it looks like a match, am I way off?

Andrew,

From my perspective it looks like a real example of a later style "Q" decal. Can you show us the rest of the helmet?

Cheers,

Darryl

This was for sure an original Quist helmet. The seller told me that it was found ten years ago in the small village of Waterloo, Belgium. It was named to SS-Sturmmann Hirbach, if I remember it correctly, not a very common name in Germany.

Unfortunately, the auction was canceled by eBay, and though I made a fair offer to him, there were plenty other competitors. It went for a lot of money in the end.

On the other hand, it was nice to see that original SS helmets can still be found on eBay, although not that often.

I really would liked to have bought that one. I made an offer too, but it went above what I could afford. Oh well.....

I believe it was sold in the 3500 USD range, might be even more. The name in the skirt was Harbich, not Hirbach, actually.

It was offered to me also for $3500. I asked for any kind of guarentee. Never heard back from the seller. Good luck to the person that shelled out over 3K.
