Hello all,
I am sure that many of you are familiar with the ceramic bells with wooden base that were made as souveniers for the 1936 Olympic games. They come up for sale from time to time.
Until recently I was unaware of a much rarer variation of the bell in the form of a coin bank.
This is only the second of this type that I have seen and I was lucky enough to get it WITH the original key!!! Still functions perfectly.
The coin bank was apparently prodiced without a base as it has a raised and unglazed edge at the bottom to rest on.
Just thought I would share this as I imagine many have not seen this variation.
All the best and good hunting, Johnny

Hello, Very nice items. I have seen both the bells with the wooden base and the banks before, but don't own either of them so far. They are indeed very nice looking items for sure though. It looks like there is a marking inside the bottom of the bell one, can you tell me what it is? Thanks Duzig(Bill)

Bill,
From the looks of the mark I'd say it's a product of KPM.
"White gold" was the passion of Frederick the Great (Frederick II). He assumed control of the Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur in 1763, taking over from the Berlin merchant Johann Ernst Gotzkowsky. The King of Prussia gave the company its name and symbol: the royal blue sceptre. KPM remained royal property until Kaiser Wilhelm II's abdication in 1918.
Johnny,
Both bells are outstanding examples of good pre-1945 porcelain, many thanks for the nice, detailed photos.
Best!
Bill

Johnny, Those are really neat. I particularly like the Bank Bell, never knew those existed. Great to also have the key with it. -Congratulations- ! -serge-
