Makes thoughs fancy SS uniforms look alittle less desirable with him wearing one. He don't really fit the persona, he also takes away the mistic of the whole org. I sure know why they didn't put him on enlistment drive posters!! Oh nice picture though Jim.

I had a younger collector who saw my collection and was quite knowledgeable about the SS and he admired thier stringent physical requirements comparing them to our U.S. Marines in stamina and disipline. He asked me how could Himmler be thier leader and not be a perfect or even reasonably 'tuned' physical specimen? I still cannot answer that at all. Mark

Mark, show him the pic of Heydrich who was believed to be Himmlers 'brains' anyway. He does sort of fit the description!

Gaspare: One of the interesting things about this picture to me is,as you pointed out, none of these are TK rings. They all appear to be some type of silver ring so I wonder what they are? I don't know the location where this picture was taken. Jim

Himmler married Margarete Boden in 1928. He came out of a first class family, his uncle (Taufpate) was a Prince of Bavaria. together with his wife he owned a chicken farm near munich. So, later his (a little bit bad) nickname was the "Reichshhnerzchter". Himmler had together with Margarete one daughter, Gudrun. In 1940, he separated from his wife without divorcing and had two more children with Hedwig Potthast.

Himmler was very selfconcious of the fact that he was far from an Aryan Superman. Already as a young man,he stood out as a fragile, pale and 'bookish' individual. He could not drink Beer(!!)with his Student Fraternity friends due to a weak stomach, but was tough enough to get his "Mansur" dueling Scars(2). Later on,as an SS Officer,he had a hard time qualifying for his Sports Badges. These were mandatory for all SS Officers.I believe H.H. was awarded both Silver Grades. What he lacked in physical shape,he more than made up for in intellect. His organizational skills as well as his adeptness to navigate the Nazi Power 'Quicksands' were equal to none. As far as 'taking away from the Mystic'of the SS,let's try to remeber here WHO created this so-called "SS Mystic".
Heydrich the athlete,Nordic Ideal, excelled at any kind of phisical activity. In real life, his figure was somewhat femenine due to his wide hips and he had a strange,high-pitched voice.Pictures do not convey this, though.
I believe Himmler The Mystic wore a Snake Ring on his pinky. Is this correct??are there any photos showing his rings in detail???

So far no clear shots of his rings. There is a shot where you can just about make out one of the styles of the skull and snake rings...This photo here right hand appears to have a skull ring.., G.

Think this photo is attributed to have been taken at the Berghoff. It has appeared in books about the Obersalzburg anyway .

Hooper: To me his Cufflink looks like a round, silver Gahr piece. It would be very interesting if somebody could enlarge this image with better definition.

too much distortion... With the original photo or negative I'd bet we'd see one of the rings or cufflink good enough for an ID..

I keep going back to this interesting picture and studying it some more and just noticed Himmlers pants. They appear to be a type of riding breeches. If this is the case I wasn't aware that Himmler was a horseman. Comments?? Jim

I wonder if the few Cigars he indulged on were Cuban... In regards to his Riding Skills,I can't recall any pictures of HH on horseback. He definetely was not an accomplished rider otherwise he would have been eligible for the Horseman's Badge.
