Can somebody help with identifying the buckle on this piece, gold or possibly tarnished silver brocade belt with frog hanger, green cloth like material backing the belt with green leather strap.

for my opinion this belt can be for a hirschfänger, but must not.

I presume, it is a prussian forestry officials belt. I presume this, because the imperial prussian firefighter buckles had the same crown. but it is also not impossible, that it is bavarian, because the "Schwanenhalsschließe" is typical for bavarian belts and as you know, the king's bavarian police had also a crown on its buckle. The green ground could also indicate saxonia.

Here is a picture out of the rules for firefighters from 1901. Please not the crown.

A very similar belt was worn - without the inisignia of the imperial time - during the Weimarer Republik. I hope, you can read that. It indicates for me the prussian origin of your belt.
hope, my english was not to bad. It is always difficult for me to declare things like these. That your belt is silvertoned nothing to worry about.

Kolibri. Many thanks for your expert help. Whilst studying the paragraph starting with "Hirschfänger" there is a phrase I can't make out, in this context what does "Ruppen auf griff und messer" mean, most of the rest I can make out, Then there is "Golden portepee with hunting green silk strap" then something about authorising the use of a silver portepee for somebody or something.
