If you want to see an ulra and I do mean ultra early Eickhorn HJ go to Lakeside Trader and see the HJ that has only the Eickhorn maker mark in an oval and nothing about the Eickhorn firm. GG and Solingen marked of course. I have seen 3 of these (your results may vary) in all my collecting years. Paul has one, Black Cross Military had one in February and mine. My knife has brass Rivets, I think Paul's has nickel and the Black Cross example looked to be brass. Mine has a sharper than typically seen quillion angle running almost parallel to the grip as did the Black Cross example. The quillion itself is thicker than normally seen even on early knives. Mine is one of the heaviest, if not the heaviest knives I have ever held. Mine came in a WWI trench knife scabbard which I now think is original to the piece but who really knows for sure. Years ago I thought it was a put together but with the vintage of the knife and its characteristics I have rethought the situation and lean towards it being that way from the beginning. Perhaps this is the link between the prestandardization knives and the standardized. I do not know and don't think anyone will ever know for sure. Perhaps Paul will post some pictures of this knife here. These types of maker marks in my opinion are few and far bewteen guys and although the example available is not mint certainly a keeper for the HJ or Eickhorn collector. My intent is to offend no one by commenting on a knife for sale by a member and I am not attempting to be a shill to draw interest for a sale. This is just a very very early mark in my mind and if I didn't already have one I would not have said a thing until I secured it. Pauls is in better shape than mine but I thin they were probably made in 1930 so what do you expect? Happy spring to all. Russ

Man that is one ugly looking rodent. But what a gem of a knife. Cool

Where are these coming from? I have now seen four on dealers listings in the last week. Not a smack at originality because they are right right right but someone must have turned some loose or soemthing. any thoughts? Russ
