Hi, I am trying to start up a local German reenactment group, it will be very small at first, only 2 so far, but I am just trying to get a final version of the uniform done up before buying anything. I would really appreciate some help in finalising the details for this. The regiment I will be trying to recreate is the 229 Jager Regiment of the 101st Jager Division on the eastern front. It is the division that is supposedly the basis for Steiners charracter in Cross of Iron. I have a fair idea of what uniform issues they could have used, possibly the M43 tunic and trousers, I believe these both appeared in late 1942, m42 helmet, M39 Jackboots. What type of parka did they wear? I have seen a splinter camo reversible one or a mouse gray one, did they wera a camo parka or was it just the mouse gray? Would they have worn smocks? If anybody has any info on this I would be really gratefull, I would also love to see some pictures if anybody has any or can post a link to some. Thanks, J.

I have done a bit more research since posting and have come across an article that said that Jager units wore the same uniform as Gebrisjager units, the Bergmütze, Tunic, Berghose, and Bergschuh. I am wondering how far into the war this was true for. In the depths of the eastern front in 1943, did this still apply? Would they have worn climbing boots or Jackboots?
