They are usually hilted to the Spanish grips with the high placed eagle with squared wing tips. The hilt on this one actually fits very well, the hilt MAY even be real, can't tell from these pics though... Red

It's quite easy to recognize by the shape of first letter "M". It's no problem to see it even looking at not so perfect picture of the motto. I agree that it's not possible to tell much with these photos. This style "M" is found on some blades with the seven circle tang marking.
