Thank you for posting this one. It saves me some work.
This is not an $850 dagger in my opinion.
On the one hand, this is a legitimate Model 1939. Note the hand enhanced scabbard bands. Also, the 1939 hangers.
However, The ball at the end of the scabbard has been removed. This detachable ball is a mark of the 1939 scabbard. I do not know how you would get an original replacement ball. In addition, the hangers have been shortened. I doubt if this was a period adjustment.
If all was correct here, this would be about a $1,200 dagger. but not in this condition.

Like Jim has pointed out...forget the ball!!
You can however replace it fairly easy by making ball yourself. Should not be that hard, even for the average handyman. Concerning the hangers, I dont Think midgets where allowed in the army at that time.
