Fake is on the left.

Reference this topic. Notice the "&" is too tall. Also notice the difference in the apron strings. A dead giveaway is the hammer - it should not be hollow and have that pointed end.

Ahh Borse, you beat me to it. Wink

Here's the Seller's description, he's half being honest about it being a fake:

Brown dagger, early nickle silver fittings, "anodized" scabbard with full rohm inscription on rear. this version of the E P & S trademark is considered to be suspect on Rohm daggers,, so examine the pictures and bid accordingly. I bought this to study and did a side by side comparison with an early non rohm ernst pack and son dagger and the only difference I could find was the hammer on the other one was etched in and the etching was a little darker grey on this one. Other than that, the tang markings were identical, the crossguard markings were identical, grip fit is good, crossguard/blade fit is good, and tang has billet clamp marks.

Blade is excellent with some light greying and "in cordial friendship Ernst rohm on rear, with all for germany on the front. Grip is complete, has short brown hanger and scabbard has one depression but all screws and most of original finish. Please see the detailed pictures, more available upon request.
