I just found on the web this reworked not matching S/239 1937 scabbard for sale, and its serial number is 1066b.
I have in my collection a later Rich A Herder 1937 serial number 6116 NO letter.
My opinion is S/239 1936 reach the mid block "a", then S/239 1937 kept serialing from mid "a" till at least early "b", then Rich Herder 1937 started again at zero.
If anyone has a S/239 1936 later than 1066b, or a S/239 earlier than 6116, I would be very interested to know.
Arnaud

Hi Arnaud

I am a little confused. Don't you mean S/239 1937 later than 1066b or Rich A Herder 1937 earlier than 6116. Otherwise I don't think I get your point.

Yndestad! Your bayonet is marked S/239 - isn't it?

Ok, let me re-explain:
Normally it should be:
S239 1936 no letter ==> 1495a (latest known)

S239 1937 no letter ==> S239 under 6116
then
R.Herder37-6116 ==> R.Herder37 1389d (latest known) ==>1938

BUT, we have this S239 1937 1066b... right between R.Herder37 and 38.

So, I suspect:
S239 36 ==> 1495a then year switch S239 37 continying serialing after the last 36 ==>1066b and higher
then R.Herder 37 starting at zero again ==> 1389d

Hello, good explained by Arnaud, i believe that R.Herder have some problems by serialing, we have only few samples in dbase, so clear it is very hard. There is problems in serialing in to 1938 and in 1940. best regards,Andy
