What do you guy's think about this one, at first I thought it was a copy but now I'm not so sure, it's not marked, and see the small hole or impression on the side, it appears to be bent a little out of round where the hole is. Any and all comments welcome.
thanks

Is it made of zinc? I know they have been reproduced but I do not have a repro example to compare. Have seen some misshapen examples of which this is not one. The hole could be where dirt or some foreign object was caught in the die. Glue from a scrap book? Does it compare size wise to other examples?

Glue from a scrap book? No idea.
Does it compare size wise to other examples? It appears to be the same size and weight as the other one I have. Not that it means any thing but it's ribbon doesn't glow under a blacklight.

Jamie,, yers ago 'Pieces of History' out of AZ. made an excelltn repro.. Problems were,,slightly lighter, and slightly flater otherwise a really good copy and wish my buddy kept it for reference! There is currently another good fake being offered with a issue bag. I'll try and find the site with the photos and post..
IF, yours is good size wise and weight, and the details are there its probably a good one..
I think this medal as well as GABs,silver wound badges, and War Service medals are to the point now that no one can tell the difference anymore between a good one and fake!

Dean, two nice examples. Thanks for sharing. ![Smile](http://daggers.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif) ----------------------------------------- Update on my Meybauer packeted medal. It is marked on the inside curve of the ring with a 7 laying on it's side. Will attempt to get a scan but it's a difficult spot. I've had it for 30 some years and just yesterday stumbled across the mark. ![Smile](http://daggers.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif) --dj--Joe

They are nice. ![Smile](http://daggers.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif) Spencer V., are they ring marked 108? I finally got a read on the maker of my second example with the spot of rust. 10 for, Foerster & Barth. Revised my original image. ![Big Grin](http://daggers.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif) --dj--Joe

Maker's mark, #6. . This is the only maker's mark that I've seen with a period after the number. Did any other maker do this?

Keeps us from guessing if it's a 6 or a 9 that way. ![Smile](http://daggers.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif) --dj--Joe

I'd guess it's a 6 with a period as Raymond suggests. Perhaps when we see another one without a dot, it will be a 9. May have been done to distinguish between the two makers? Has anyone seen it on any other type of medal as well?

I'm usually lucky if I can make out the numbers let alone see a period. ![Smile](http://daggers.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif) Anyone got an example of an EKII by Fritz Zimmermann? That might tell. ------------------------------------------------------ Check page #77 in THE IRON CROSS of 1939 by: Gordon Williamson. The example by Friedrich Keller apears to have a period. Joe, it does look like a period on the Friedrich Keller. I don't have an example to check with but maybe I'll find one this weekend. On both the EKII ans EKI there is a period after the 6. I wonder what Liefergsmeinschaft Scmuckhandwerker (#9) used? Gordon doesn't list this maker in his book on EK's but I think I saw it listed as a maker of EKII's on WAF. Here's the MM #6 on an EKII.

I've discovered no images of 9's. It's good to know about the 6. and 66. both having periods.

Russell, was thinking of this thread a few days ago. ![Smile](http://daggers.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif) I finally got a read on the marks on my medals so the Paul Meybauer marked packet does have a 7 marked medal with it. Thanks for keeping the list updated and your continued interest and contributions. This thread has many excellent images and much valuable information. Keep up the good work all. ![Smile](http://daggers.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif) --dj--Joe The 7 is towards the inside of the ring laying on it's side.
