Yeah always liked these.. I'm not saying its anything special,,its just a old pin, its been on there a long time. Thats the way I got it. . I have a few but this one is my favorite.

Got these medals from the wife of a former German POW. Of course they had to be denazified. The frozen meat medal has a number on the ring but to small to see.

Looks like there are maker numbers on the rings of Joe's (top right medal), Jim's and SSman's.
I just checked mine again, which I thought was not numbered, and found it hiding under the ribbon - 127, for Moritz Hausch A.G., Pforzheim.

Mike, number 8 is Ferdinand Hoffstätter, Bonn a. Rhein.

I can not make mine out due to rust damage in that spot.  The only section of the ring to rust and it had to be the maker mark. Got a good look, it's a 10.--dj--Joe

Hello!
Here is the Winter Campaign medal along with others belonging to Fritz Klein, a Ski-Jaeger, and member of Ski-Batl."Schlebruegge", the first independent ski unit of the German Army during WWII.
This small grouping came with his Wehrpass,
Soldbuch and a photo of Herr Klein receiving his Ost Medal in an outside ceremony. During the winter of 1941-42 he was, according to his pass books, fighting in the battle for Moscow.
Hope you enjoy seeing the wartime history behind the medal.

Thank you Joe and Russell! There is nothing neater than to see wartime photos of the men and their articals that we now posses in our collections.
An interesting thing is that this page in Herr Klein's Soldbuch states that he received the Ost Medaille on August 3, 1942, yet we see him at the award ceremony several months later and there looks to be plently of snow. Therefore the date of Aug. 3 must be for the paper field award version of the Ost Medaille and he actually received the physical medal months later during the winter of 1942-43.
Also notice that Klein was awarded the Wound Badge in black only nine days after being awarded the Ost Medal. The grouping came with Klein's award documents for the KVKII and EKII.
Klein was wounded in the chest as the bullet passed through his tunic pocket. Just look at the hole made by the bullet through the KVK award. The Ost Medaille award document must have been completely destroyed, or why else would it not be included in the grouping.

Klein's KVKII award issued just 4 months before receiving the Ost Medal. His Ost medal was either destroyed too, or was lost during the war.
